The honourable Member of Parliament for the South Tongu Constituency Mr. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has hinted that, the Sogakope District Hospital in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region will soon be converted into a trauma centre.

Speaking at an Open Forum for South Tongu Parliamentary Candidates organized by the National Union of Tongu Students and Associates (NUTSA) on 31st October, 2020 at UniPetro, Sogakope, the incumbent Member of Parliament said, he has contributed positively to the current situation of the Hospital.

According to him, building a trauma centre at the Sogakope District Hospital will help handle accident cases to avoid complications and death during long travel to seek medical attention.

He indicated that, in order to improve the existing conditions of the Hospital to effectively address accident related issues, he will ensure that, the Sogakope District Hospital is convert a trauma centre.

The Ranking Member on Youth and Sport added that, conversion of the Hospital into a trauma centre will help safe lives of accident cases on the road since the hospital is located within the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) high way.

Mr. Woyome revealed that, he has already discussed the proposal to convert the Hospital into a trauma centre with the Leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. John Dramani Mahama and there are plans to do that.

“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama through my lobbying has agreed to convert the District Hospital into a trauma center because it is located within the West African Highway and we know the number of accidents on that road… When we have a trauma center we will be able to save a lot of lives.” Mr. Kobena Mensah Woyome explained while addressing Constituents.
