Executive Chef, Abdul-Razak Failatu formerly known as Chef Faila has disclosed that she is getting used to or adjusting to a celebrity lifestyle status after her widely known cook-a-thon.
On January 10th, Faila officially concluded her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking session, attracting nationwide attention with her culinary feat.
With a total time of over 227 hours, she has unofficially secured the title of the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes was set by Irish chef Alan Fisher in Japan back in November 2023.
Faila’s marathon took place at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, drawing a crowd of spectators and supporters eager to witness her remarkable achievement.
Originally scheduled to cook from January 1st to January 5th, Faila had to extend her attempt to ten days due to a similar endeavor by Ugandan chef Mama D (Dorcus Mirembe) the previous month, which lasted 144 hours.
During an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on January 19th, Faila called upon the media to highlight positive news about Ghana. She emphasized that she would not be intimidated into abandoning her aspirations.
Faila stated, “Experience is everything. I’ve never lived this life before, and I need to adjust. I’m just an ordinary person like anyone else, so if I make a mistake, I don’t expect to be vilified for it.”
She continued, “Should I have pretended to act like a celebrity and know everything? No, I have to adapt to this lifestyle gradually. It’s a process.”
“Unfortunately, there are certain individuals who, the moment you’re in the limelight, emerge with negativity and attempt to vilify you, forgetting about all the good things you’ve done. But I’m not someone who can be bullied,” Faila affirmed.
