The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration under the leadership of Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has issued a press release reacting to media reports on the demolishing of a building at the premises of the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana.
Within the last few days, there have several media reports of how armed men stormed the Nigerian High Commissioner’s’ residence in Accra on Friday night with bulldozers and demolished a building apartment on the property.
In the press release from the ministry of foreign affairs and regional integration, the ministry expressed regret over the incident and revealed that investigations are ongoing to unravel the facts of the matter and bring the perpetrators to book and that the Government of Ghana has beefed up security at the said facility and the situation is under control.
The statement also reassured the Diplomatic community in Ghana and the Nigeria High Commission in particular that Ghana remains a law abiding country that upholds the principle of the rule of law, where due process is followed at all times.
