Hon. Haruna Iddrisu expressed worry over the Electoral Commission’s conduct and said, “it troubles my heart because, article 42 will not be observed in essence through making available to Ghanaian people, legitimate guaranteed right they are entitled to under article 42 face out registration exercise not absolute, not country wide, not in every registration centre and not in their 3,300 gazetted polling stations. So it means that, the number they are giving today contradicts what has been officially gazetted.” He explained.

According to the Minority, the Electoral Commissioner Mrs. Jean Mensa does not seem to understand the essence of data synchronization and data harmonization. “In her answers to a simple question, she stated they do not intend to use the data of the National Identification Authority. So what will they do with the National ID card?’ He asked.

Hon. Haruna alleged that, the EC disclosed that, “any person who walks to their registration centre, there will be no opportunity for verification, no opportunity for authentication. The EC Chairperson emphasised that, they will use the Ghana card only for the purpose of identification as to whether you are a citizen of Ghana or not.”

Adding to that, the Minority Leader said, “Madam Jean Mensa does not understand what it means to share data, to synchronize and to harmonise the data. If any of you have a Ghana Card, a chip in it, if you build it into a dedicated and a well build software and hardware, your bio data must necessary show up and you will be able to verify and authenticate it at that polling station. I don’t see a cooperation and I do not see collaboration even with that have been made an essential primary document but her assurance is that, they will accept it only for purpose of identity that you are a Ghanaian. Naturally, we have made the request that, she should appear before our committee better late than never.” He added.
