Listen to Ghanaians and Don’t Compile New Voter’s Register – Afrikania Mission tells EC
The Afrikania mission has issued a press release contributing to the debate on whether the Electoral Commission of Ghana should compile a new voter’s register or not.
Castrate me if EC successfully compile an entirely new voter’s register – Efo Worlanyo
In the press release signed by Osofo Konfo Atsu Koye the mission indicated that, they have been closely monitoring the arguments, opinions and the stands taken by the Stakeholders and Institutions, Civil Societies, High Commissioners and other Individuals about the new VOTERS REGISTER the Electoral Commission of Ghana is considering to compile for December 2020 election.
The mission said “We also have the respect for the constitutional mandate of EC to do it work for a smooth running of elections in Ghana.” However, the ” Afrikania mission, as an organization with a large membership has the responsibility to protect its members against anything that has the potential of affecting their well-being negatively.”

The Afrikania mission is therefore calling on the electoral commission through MAD. JEAN ADUKWEI MENSAH to reconsider it’s decision to compile the new voters register for December 2020 election.
Below are the reasons why the MISSION is calling on EC not to Compile a New Voter’s register;
1. The time to the election is too short to guarantee the peaceful and accurate process of new registration.
2. We have also noticed that a lot of our members have neither passport nor NIA CARD to register before guaranteeing for one another. It is also a plain fact that a lot of Ghanaians did not get the chance to register for the NIA CARD due to the rushing way the registration was
done, for that matter they will be disenfranchised.
3. “We are not in our normal times”, as the President himself puts it. (COvID 19)
As a conclusion, we are humbly appealing to the government to exercise its authority by stopping the Electoral Commission from compiling a new voter register this time. Anything that will disturb the peace that we are all enjoying in Ghana, will also affect AFRIKANIA MISSION as well since we all
in Ghana. Experience has thought us that these are the type of actions that create tension and even civil wars in so many parts of the world.
