John Mahama rehabilitates Mepe township roads
Former President and 2024 flag bearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has helped in the rehabilitation of Mepe, Volta Region township roads.
The office of John Mahama sent a grader to the community to reshape the internal roads and to enhance mobility within Mepe ahead of their annual Aƒenɔto Festival.
Inspecting the project, the North Tongu Constituency Chairman, Hon. C.K Akaho-Tay, accompanied by a team of Executives, visited the workers of the township roads at work.
The rehabilitation is aimed at fixing the damage caused by devastating flooding close to a year ago due to the unexpected spillage of the Akosombo and Kpong dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

The rehabilitation of the township roads commenced on Friday, August 2, 2024. However, over fifteen (15) communities and adjoining roads have been fixed.
The areas rehabilitated include but are not limited to the following;
- Adzaklo Junction to Adukonus Hse.
- Kizito by Pass to Vokpo Cemetery Road (i.e behind RC JHS)
- RC JHS down through ”God is God Avenue” and Pentecost Central church to RC Primary
- Roman Street to Global Church Junction
- Global Church Junction to Lukunu Village
- Mamaga Adzo Sreku IV street
- Togbega Kwao Anipati street to Todzokpoe
- Keta street to Adzigo Torkor
- Mamaga Awusi Sreku street to Dumega Glah street.
The chiefs and people of the Mepe traditional area expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the NDC and Former President John Dramani Mahama for the prompt intervention.
“The community’s annual festival began last Friday (August 2, 2025) and the road rehabilitation has enhanced the preparations for the celebration,” Kennedy Mornyuie (CCO-North Tongu) said.
According to Kennedy Mornyuie, the CCO for North Tongu, “It does appear that the NDC and President Mahama’s intervention have brought significant relief and joy to the Mepe community, showcasing the positive impact of political leadership on local communities.”
The community calls on the government to put an end to politics that hinder community development and don’t preach fairness.
“We, therefore, call on the government to put an end to the politics of convenience and treat each citizen and community equally and with respect.”
