A senior Journalist of Joynews Isreal Laryea says former president of Ghana and the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress has vindicated him from purported lies against him by some Ghanaians soon after the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson declared the 2020 Presidential election.
On 9th December, 2020, the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa has declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the president elect for the 2020 Presidential election.
Many Ghanaians across the world especially members of the National Democratic Congress believe that, the declaration was a pre-recorded video telecasted by some Media Houses.

The action of the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson and the Returning Officer for the Presidential election has created doubts and confusion in people’s mind in the country and the international Community.
Some Ghanaians also criticized some media houses and key journalists including but not limited to Alfred Ocansey of TV3, Evans Mensah of Joynews, Isreal Laryea of Joynews, Engel TV, Wontumi TV, Metro TV, Adom TV, UTV for misleading the general public, because Madam Jean Mensa was repeatedly greeting good afternoon around 5: 50pm in the evening during what the media reported to be a live coverage.

But, in a Facebook post, a senior Journalist of Joynews Isreal Laryea said “In the 2020 presidential election petition, ex-President John Dramani Mahama makes reference to the LIVE broadcast of the declaration of the results. The same broadcast many said was prerecorded and for which I was flayed for saying it was live because I witnessed it. Truth prevails!”
Some socal media users suggest that, the respondents of John Dramani Mahama’s petition can make some strong cases of this, because up to date, some NDC supporters still believe the declaration was recorded earlier before being telecasted.

Meanwhile, others believe that, there are instances where TV stations broadcast a pre-recorded or delayed event and still make their viewers believe it is live by having the “Live” inscription on their screen. According to them, once it is the first time broadcast, it is regarded as a live broadcast, because, even Preaident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Covid-19 addresses were not live but TV stations carried them as though they were.
