Ministry of Education denies claims of recruitment of Heads of STEM schools

The Ministry of Education has denied claims of recruitment of Heads of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) schools.

John Ntim Fordjour, the Deputy Minister for Education has indicated that, reports circulating that the Ministry has advertised for recruitment of Headmasters for STEM Schools is false and misleading.

The Deputy Minister, in a post on his Facebook page made it known that, appointment of heads of schools are the prerogative of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education is in the known that GES had not published any such advert as purported by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT).

The Member of Parliament for Assin South John Fordjour was reacting to a press release by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) which is said to have alleged that the Deputy Minister for Education has insulted Mr. Eric Angel Carbonu, the national president of to NAGRAT.

The Deputy Minister further stated that, he is not to be drawn to engage Eric Angel Carbonu of NAGRAT in war of words nor media banters over a simple matter but the record ought to be set straight.

John Ntim Fordjour was also quick to add that, the appointment of Heads of Schools for the soon to be operationalized STEM Schools shall be in line with the prescribed procedures and must therefore not become the subject of unwarranted media attacks by NAGRAT.
