New Voter’s Register; We are yet to declare our position – CPP

The Electoral Commission of Ghana after its Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Wednesday, 27th May, 2020 has announced its roadmap for the compilation of a new voter’s register towards the December 7 polls.

The announcement made by the Electoral Commission has generated a lot of debate on social media regarding some resolutions passed by EC including one of which many people disagreed with thus; “there will be no December 7 polls if new voter’s register has not been compiled”

Meanwhile, earlier, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has also kicked against the new voter’s register exercise by boycotting the EC’s IPAC final meeting to update political parties on plans to compile new register and December 7, 2020 elections.

In a new development, the Convention People’s Party (CPP),  a political party founded by former president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has kick against EC’s decision saying they have not yet declare their position on the new voter’s register compilation exercise.

The Convention People’s Party has on Friday, 29th May, 2020 made a statement on it’s official Facebook page, saying ” The CPP has not taken an official position on the EC voter registration exercise because the central committee of the party is yet to meet and take such decision.”

The party has also asked it’s members to submit their suggestions including their constituency to help the party leadership make a final decision in their interest.
” As a member of the party, what do you think about this and what position will you recommend for the party.” The party asked.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission of Ghana indicated that, it has served all political parties a letter to its IPAC meeting for a final decision on the electoral processes.
