NPP establishes Regional Reconciliation Committees ahead of 2024 General Elections
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established Regional Reconciliation Committees with the aim of fostering unity and reconciliation within the party.

The formation of these committees took place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 after the party held its internal elections which involved the selection of parliamentary candidates for constituencies, NPP Primaries for Members of Parliament (MPs) for the upcoming 2024 General Election.

In 2022, the party initiated its reorganization process leading up to the 2024 polls starting from Polling stations and progressing through Constituencies, Regions, and the National level. This process included the election of a flag bearer and parliamentary primaries in constituencies without incumbent MPs, often referred to as orphan constituencies, in 2023. The process culminated on January 27, 2024, with the selection of parliamentary candidates in constituencies where the party already has MPs.
Given the nature of internal party events and activities, there may be certain issues that could potentially impact party cohesion and unity leading up to the 2024 General Election. Due to that, the party’s leadership in consultation with the respective Regional Executive Committees has established Regional Reconciliation Committees to address any disagreements that might surface and promote unity prior to the General Election.

A statement issued by Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the NPP confirmed the establishment of these committees. The statement emphasized that the committees have been entrusted with the task of fostering unity and reconciliation in every constituency within their respective regions. It further stated that the committees are responsible for resolving any issues arising from various party activities or events, including polling station elections, constituency elections, regional elections, national elections, presidential elections, and parliamentary elections.
The party expressed its gratitude to the individuals who have volunteered to serve on these committees, acknowledging their willingness to contribute to the unity and cohesion of the party. The statement also included a list of the chairpersons for each of the 14 Regional Reconciliation Committees with their respective regions.
