The Ghana Medical Association is Calling on the Ghana Police Service to immediately apprehend and prosecute individuals who violated the Coronavirus pandemic protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) during the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries held on 20th June, 2020 across the country.

The National Executive Committee of the Ghana Medical Association indicated that, they have observed that, delegates at the NPP parliamentary primaries disregarded the precautionary measures put in place to reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic after its intensive and enhanced review on response to the virus.

The GMA has also condemned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership for their inability to issues directives to party members ahead of the primaries and proper guidelines during the exercise.
In a comprehensive press statement issued by the GMA leadership signed by the President Dr. Frank Ankobea and the General Secretary Dr. Justice Yankson, they believe that such attitude as exhibited by NPP delegates including key individuals in the party do not help in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
