Police reacts to a group of Ghanaians who set date to picket to demand for Jean Mensa’s removal from office

The Ghana Police Service department has reacted to a notice served by Mr. Elikem E. Kotoko on behalf of a section of Ghanaians seeking to picket to demand for the removal of Mrs. Jean Mensa, the EC’s chairperson from office.

The Accra Regional Police Command in a letter issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police said, he has acknowledged receipt of the letter of Elikem E. Kotoko dated 17/02/2021 on the above-subject matter and wishes to inform the individuals planning to picket that the Public Order Act has no place for picketing as they have used in their letter.

The Command further noted that, restrictions imposed by the Executive Instrument (E.I) 395 to contain the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic has still not been lifted.

In view of this, the Greater Accra Regional Command said, they cannot allow the group  to picket indefinitely at the premises of the Presidency, EC Headquarters and the Supreme Court as they are of high security interest to the State, please.
