President Akufo-Addo appoints new Chief of Defence Staff

The President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed new leaders from the Ghana Armed Forces to help him with his works, at the Jubilee House.

The President’s appointees, are to occupy the office of the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief of Naval Staff respectively.

The current Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, has been appointed as the acting Chief of Defence Staff, effective February 5th, where he would meet the yet- to- be – constituted Council of State for thorough examination.

However, the current Chief of staff, at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu, has been appointed as the acting Chief of Naval Staff, effective 5th February, 2021, as he also awaits the consultation with the yet – to – be – constituted Council of State.

The appointment of these hardworking officers, has been made following the retirement of the current Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.B Akwa, which the President was grateful working with.

The President of the republic, has promised to appoint a new Chief of Staff, at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, in due course, in accordance with the law.
