Randy Gregory is an American football defensive end for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He attended Nebraska and was taken in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

Gregory was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and relocated seven times as a child. Ken Gregory, his father, played collegiate football at Northwestern. He went to Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana, where he played football and basketball.

He had 92 tackles and 17 sacks in football. He was recognized as one of the top 15 players in Indiana following his senior year. Gregory received scholarship offers from Division I basketball clubs in addition to multiple football scholarship offers.

Gregory committed to Purdue University right out of high school, but he was academically ineligible, and he was eventually invited to attend Arizona Western College or Iowa Western Community College by Purdue. Gregory made the decision to attend Arizona Western. He fractured his wrist while playing basketball, but after demonstrating his abilities, he was named a starter for their football team. He had 82 tackles, nine sacks, 21 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries as a freshman in 2011. He assisted the squad in reaching the NJCAA championship game, but they were defeated.
