The Black Stars Technical Team led by Coach Otto Addo has released the 33-man squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 friendlies in November.
Unfortunately for the Black Stars, their defender Alexander Djiku and midfielder Thomas Teye Partey were eliminated from the current Ghana Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers and pre-world cup friendlies.
According to reports, Thomas Teye Partey was eliminated due to his injury at his International Club, Arsenal.
Coach Otto Addo decided to replace him with another midfielder for him to get enough time to recover. He is expected to return to the Black Stars team for the Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup tournament.
Meanwhile, the defender, Alexander Djiku was eleminated due to deal with Clubs and family issues.
He is set to join a premier league team next season with Fulham, Newcastle, Leicester, Westham United, and Aston Villa all interested in him.
This came after he has been linked with several clubs and also yet to renew his contract with Strasbourg.
According to the Technical Team, the Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew who missed the World Cup play offs against Nigeria has returned to the squad after serving his two-match suspension.
Also, returning to the squad are Mubarak Wakasso, Jonathan Mensah and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The three players have not featured for the Black Stars since the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Accra Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Bechem United’s Augustine Okrah have also been included in the squad.
But, Alexander Djiku and Thomas Partey are absent from Black Stars squad.
