Senior Staff Association of Public Universities yet to call off strike despite plea from NLC

The Senior Staff Association of Public Universities is currently considering whether to call off its strike, despite a plea from the National Labour Commission (NLC) to do so, pending a meeting with the government scheduled for February 1, 2024.
The unions initiated the strike as a result of the government’s failure to address concerns regarding pensions and the alleged cancellation of overtime allowances.

Isaac Donkoh, the National Chairman of the association, stated in an interview with Citi News that a meeting would be held within the week to finalize the decision on whether to end the strike or continue it while engaging with the government.
“At the moment, we are still on strike. We are expecting the engagement with the government, and we hope and pray that it will yield positive results. Unfortunately, we were unable to convene our planned meeting last week Friday. Therefore, we are planning to schedule a meeting within the week before meeting with the government. So, we are yet to meet and decide,” Donkoh explained.
The Senior Staff Association of Public Universities is carefully deliberating on the best course of action, considering the implications and potential outcomes of their strike. They aim to engage in constructive discussions with the government and seek resolutions that address their concerns adequately.
As the association prepares for its meeting, the fate of the ongoing strike remains uncertain.
