Shatta Wale is part of our problem- Video Director, Babs Direction

Direction X Wale
Notable Ghanaian Music Video Director, Babs Direction has shared his perspective on the role of “Dancehall King” Shatta Wale in the challenges faced by the Ghana Music Industry.
Babs Direction believes that Shatta Wale contributes to the industry’s difficulties by consistently expressing negativity towards the efforts of fellow Ghanaian artists who are striving to gain international recognition.
Babs Direction expressed that while certain Ghanaian musicians are dedicating themselves to elevating the status of Ghanaian music on a global scale, Shatta Wale appears to be focused on making unfavorable remarks about their achievements.
He emphasized the importance of solidarity and encouragement among artists, highlighting that even though the entertainment industry is about spectacle, there should be a level of discernment in deciding when to offer support to fellow musicians.
Babs Direction’s commentary arises in response to Shatta Wale’s recent criticisms of the state of the Ghana music industry. Shatta Wale had made comments that appeared to belittle the industry, especially in comparison to the achievements of Nigerian musicians.
In a recent instance, on August 20, the Nigerian artist Asake successfully filled the prestigious O2 Arena in London, a feat accomplished within just two years of his breakthrough.
Asake delivered an impressive performance to a massive audience at the O2 Arena, which ignited significant discussions about the relative positions of Nigerian and Ghanaian music on the global stage.
Shatta Wale, in response to this achievement, humorously remarked that “Nigerians are making Ghana music look like a feeding bottle compared to a Hennessy bottle 😂🤣. Congrats to Asake, meeeenn!!!”
