Management of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced symbols and their interpretation on WAEC statement of results for both Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates.
According to the notice, four (4) different symbols have been released with their interpretations.

These symbols are always captured on WAEC statement of results for candidates who fall within the categories stated in the table below.
The symbols represent candidates who were absent during the examination, candidates whose results or papers were cancelled, candidates whose results are pending (scores being collated) and candidates whose results have been withheld (investigation into cases of alleged examination malpractice).
