TTAG Handover and Induction 2024: Excerpts from H.E Soale Razak, TTAG President

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) held its handover and induction ceremony at Accra College of Education, Accra, a constitutional mandate to sworn into office new executive officers.

The event marked the successful transition of leadership from Jeththah Kwame Sefah’s administration to Razak Soale’s administration.

The new national president Mr. Razak Soale used the opportunity to outline key issues his administration will champion in the best interest of the teacher trainees across the 46 Accredited Public Colleges of Education in Ghana.

H.E Soale Razak on the occasion of his investure as President of Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) Accra College of Education said, as he assume this new role, he is fully aware of the responsibilities and challenges that lie ahead. ”

I am committed to building on the foundation laid by my predecessors and working tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of our members. Together with my team, we shall design a road map to ensure timely and effective implementation of projects and initiatives.”

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH BY SOALE RAZAK ON THE OCCASION OF HIS INVESTURE AS PRESIDENT OF TEACHER TRAINEES ASSOCIATION OF GHANA AT ACCRA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Mr. Chairman, President, Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF), Prof. Samuel Awinkene Atintono, Former National Presidents and Coordinators, Ex-officers, Staff and Students, Members of the Press Corps, Distinguished Ladies and gentlemen.

This event, celebrated with so much pomp and pageantry, showcasing elements steeped in teacher education and student leadership, I am sure will be equally etched in the memory of all of you beautiful and kind people who have made time to honor me with your presence.

I am truly humbled by the dignified presence of such a galaxy of distinguished personalities filling this great auditorium, for the single purpose of witnessing this special day. I am referring to the invited personalities who have gravitated to this auditorium from far and near.

Prof. Samuel Awinkene Atintono, President, Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF) himself is here, student leaders from across the country, my school mates from Tamale College of Education, my dear and very supportive brother, Kparibo Ernest (Fmr. Coordinator for TTAG), representatives from ATTRICONS, VOLTA, WEC, ASHBA and EGA, etc. I recognize all of you.

For my part, I recall like yesterday that day in 2021 when I had just gained admission into Tamale College of Education when President Dzunu Jonathan had just won his election as the National President of this same association. Never in my wildest moments did I dream that a day will come when I would be elected to sit on that chair; truly coming full circle, from just a teacher trainee to the National President of our beloved association. What an honour and what a pleasant beam of light to brighten up my twilight years in college.

I thank God. I am humbled. It is only right that I thank all those who have expressed confidence in me, that I could bring some positive additionally to the affairs of all teacher trainees nationwide by supporting my election to this high office. I especially thank my team and the National Executive Council. I promise I will not let you down.

I am filling the shoes of great ones which puts me in the unique position of being able to draw on the wisdom and experience of past presidents of Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana, their Excellences’ Dambie Abdul Manan, Dzunu Jonathan, Nana Kwame Jephthah, to mention but a few. They represent the continuity of our association, for which we thank the almighty.

I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to my predecessor, H.E Nana Kwame Jephthah and his team, for their outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in advancing the interests of teacher trainees across the country. Under their guidance, our association has achieved remarkable milestones in advocacy and made significant contributions to the teacher education sector in Ghana.

As I assume this new role, I am fully aware of the responsibilities and challenges that lie ahead. I am committed to building on the foundation laid by my predecessors and working tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of our members. Together with my team, we shall design a road map to ensure timely and effective implementation of projects and initiatives.

This would not only prevent late planning but would also restructure our association in addressing needs in a holistic approach.

I am also keenly aware of the critical role that teacher trainees play in shaping the future of education in our country. As such, I will prioritize initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional development of our members, advocating for their welfare, and fostering collaboration with relevant stakeholders to advance the quality of teacher training in Ghana.

Let me use this opportunity to admonish the entire membership of TTAG to develop a keen interest in the activities and progress of the association. Our strength as TTAG lies in the unity and solidarity we share. Although, our affiliation and other factors may differ, but I would want to re-echo that the forces that unite us are greater than those that divide us.

I would lead an administration that prioritize the needs and challenges of the ordinary trainee above all things. Together, we shall run a transparent, efficient and collaborative association that listen and feels for her membership.

The ‘Servant Leadership’ agenda is not only a slogan but an approach and a style of leadership that have the interest and needs of membership at its core.

It reflects a new dawn, where the people are a crucial part of the decision making process, and a leadership truly defined on the bench mark of pure service.

Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, I do not promise you ‘milk and honey’ but the many things we can achieve together as a people committed to shared goals and aspirations.

In the forthcoming days, my team and I shall commit ourselves to growing a more vibrant, resilient and development oriented association that would not only serve her people but makes her people a part of the progress journey.

I am confident that, with your unwavering support and collective efforts, we can overcome any challenges and achieve our shared goals. Together, we will work towards creating a conducive environment for teacher trainees to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the educational landscape of our nation.

Mr. Chairman, your excellences, Distinguished guests, dear friends, as I conclude, and as I accept formally the position of the President of Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana,

I want to reiterate my commitment to serving the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana with utmost dedication and passion. I look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to bring about positive change and make a lasting impact in the field of education.

Thank you for your trust, and let us embark on this journey together towards a brighter future for teacher trainees in Ghana.
