UHAS launches regional sensitization campaign on sickle cell disease

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has inaugurated the regional sensitization campaign on sickle cell disease.

It was inaugurated by The Fred N.Binka School of Public Health and the school of medicine at UHAS.

The Fred N.Binka School of Public Health and the school of medicine launched this year’s Volta region sickle cell Disease awareness and Education campaign in Hohoe on the 8th of August, with the aim of sensitizing society to the disease.

5000 children are expected to be screened in Hohoe Municipality which is also part of the main aims of the program.

This public awareness held by UHAS is really imperative because of the deadly and dangerous effect of sickle cell such as, the failure of the cell to flow to the rest of the body

Stroke, eye problems, infections and episodes of pain called pain crises are also serious effect of this Disease.
