UG: Department of Plant and Environmental Biology Establishes Mushroom Research and Production Initiative

The Department of plant and Environmental Biology of the university of Ghana had established the Mushroom Research and Production Initiative.
The initiative was implemented to help accelerate the progressive maintenance and Production of Mushrooms.
There had been cultivation of mushrooms for domestic consumption under this initiative.
The initiative has also yielded high quality spawns and mushroom spawn bags available for purchase, enabling interested parties to easily endulge in mushroom cultivation. This initiative would be of great help to the country at large.
It would encourage the development of new food products and would give chances of employment for the people involved in the new industries.
Also help in converting agro wastes into human food.
It is also beneficial as it contain some health benefits , mushrooms contain macronutrients that supports a healthy immune system.
