Actor, Politician, and Entrepreneur, John Dumelo has in a statement suggested the Government use the amount allocated for Ghana Black Stars if they qualify for the round of 16 to provide classroom furniture.
John Dumelo said “The money supposed to be spent if we had qualified for the next round, can we use it to buy desks for students who still sit on the floor to learn?”
Earlier (before the Qatar World Cup) at the Parliament of Ghana, Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Youth and Sports presented the World Cup budget where he made mention of $8,166,200 as an estimated cost that will warrant their group stage appearance at the tournament.
Further, he started categorically that if they make a progress to the round of 16, then, their prize money will increase to $13 million from $9 million.
At the Qatar World Cup 2022, Ghana played all their three (3) matches at the group unfortunately, they won 1 and conceded 2.
Their last match with their rivalry country since 2010, Uruguay should have qualified them to proceed to the next stage with either a win or draw.
Unfortunately, the Black Stars lost the match.
In line with the World Cup back home, the Actor and Entrepreneur John Dumelo suggested that that the his country Ghana should invest the said budgeted prize money in the education of the future leaders.
