V/R: Asogli State Council calls for investigation into the sales of gov’t lands

The Chiefs of Asogli State is calling for an immediate investigation into the sale and sharing of government lands among some individuals in the Volta Regional Capital, Ho.

According to the Asogli State Council, they did receive complains about the illegal sale of Government lands, to which various stools and families hold allodial title, prior to the publication of a Press Release on the subject matter and had started their own investigation of the matter.

The chiefs and people of Asogli State in the Volta Region said, they take a very serious view of the Press Release on the above subject, dated 22nd March, 2021, which was signed by one Mr. Adzome Emmanuel on behalf of the “Ho Central
Electorates” and members of Ho Municipal Assembly.

In statement issued by the Secretary of the Council, Stephen Tetteh said, they believe that, the contents of the Press Release are thus consistent with and confirm what they thought they knew all along. “It is sad to imagine that people who have offered to lead us, will exploit their privileged positions and appropriate our lands among themselves and their cronies.”

“We the Chiefs of Asogli State hereby call for a thorough non-partisan investigation of the sale of Government lands over the past ten (10) years, and for steps to be taken to right any wrongs that have been committed.”

“We wish to assure the Government of our full cooperation, and look forward to being represented on any group that would be constituted to undertake this investigation.”
