Videos: Woyome supports two dilapidated schools in South Tongu

The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has extended his kind support to two (2) dilapidated schools in South Tongu District.
The South Tongu Member of Parliament has donated bags of cement to support rehabilitation work at the Dzogborve D/A Primary School and Vume R/C Primary School.

Hon. Woyome’s support to Dzogborve D/A Primary School
The Lawmaker, on Sunday 7th November, 2021 has donated twenty (20) bags of cement to the Dzogborve D/A Primary School to do minor rehabilitation of some part of the school building.
The MP made the donation following a request of twenty (20) bags of cement from the management of the school to rehabilitate some part of the classroom blocks, corridor including cracks on the walls to protect the building from deteriorating.
The head teacher, staff and management of the school thank the MP for the support.

Hon. Woyome’s support to Vume R/C Primary School
On 15th November, 2021, the MP also donated another thirty (30) bags of cement to support the rehabilitation of the Vume R/C Kindergarten classroom block.
Mr. Woyome responded quickly to the call made on him to support the school with cement to renovate the classroom block in order to enhance teaching and learning.
Speaking in an interview with Coverghana news team, the MP said, though the school requested for only thirty (30) bags of cement but he will add additional twenty (20) bags making a total of fifty (50) bags after ascertaining the real situation on the ground.
Speaking on behalf of the school and the community, the head teacher of Vume R/C Primary School Mr. Ahakutor Sampson has expressed his satisfaction towards the MP for responding to their request in time.
While he thanks the MP for the donation, he also used the opportunity to make a passionate request of three (3) unit classroom block for the school due to the fast growing population/enrollment experienced in the recent times. He also appealed to the MP to support the school with dual desks, jersey and football.
In a response, the MP assured the head teacher to support them for requests made.
Ahead of the donation, the MP also used the opportunity to engage the teachers and students of the school on key issues affecting education, sports, jobs among many.

BACKGROUND
The assistant head teacher of the Vume R/C Primary Mr. Akorli Raymond explained that, about two years ago, the Kindergarten classroom block begins to collapse.
According to him, they were told that, there was a pit latrine at where the school block was constructed.
Due to this, that part of the classroom block is now sinking gradually causing fear and panic among the teachers, students and communities folks.
Information available confirmed that, about seventy (70) kindergarten students were since relocated to the school’s technical and vocational department for teaching and learning to continue.
The Management of the school is therefore calling on all the powers that be, citizens and philanthropist to assist the school with 3-unit classroom block.
