Volta PPP congratulates new MMDCEs, calls for long term development plans

The Volta Regional Chapter of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has congratulated the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives who were confirmed by the 2/3 majority of Assembly Members in the various assemblies in the Volta Region.
Speaking in an interview with the Volta Regional Communications Coordinator of PPP Mr. Frank Hope Mamattah, he opined that, planning and development of the various District Assemblies should be the topmost priority of the new MMDCEs.
According to Mr. Mamattah, developmental projects should be the key factor for the MMDCEs when they are planning for their District. He said, the PPP will be happy if the MMDCEs implement a five (5) or more years development plans to enhance Assembly development and engage all institutions to sit up to their core mandates.

He stated that, school facilities, hospitals, market, factories and other social amenities should be the number one priority of the MMDCEs in the Volta Region.
Mr. Mamattah used the opportunity to call on MMDCEs to exhibit the attitude of proper accountability and must ensure that, the running of the assemblies are transparent.
“Paramount Chief of the various Assemblies should be engaged to enhance development. Every sector and institutions within the Region should be brought under one umbrella to help employ the youth.” He said.
He added that, the MMDCEs should not forget they are there to serve the interest of their constituents and not their political Party.
Confirmed list of MMDCE nominees for Volta Region
According to him, Assembly Members who sold their conscience before confirming MMDCE nominees should bow their heads in shame. He believes that, such persons are obstacles to the development of the various Assemblies in the Volta Region.

“We Need one who has a good conscience to help build Ghana. It is about time for Ghana to move from learning how to write, read and calculate to how to be psychologically active. By so doing, the government will have fewer people to employ and we will gradually move from dependency to independent. Let’s build Ghana together by encouraging made in Ghana goods and also strengthen the indigenous sectors.” He added.
