It appears many Ghanaians no longer trust the words of the president on national issues due to how he and his govermment handle them.
One person among them, is a young promising Ghanaian with the name Sadat Abdul-Rahman who says he can’t trust President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo anymore because he has failed to go by his words as promised.
Sadat Abdul-Rahman, in a Social Media post asked, what has happened to the president’s statement “l will put my presidency in the line to fight Galamsey?” He believes that, President Nana Akufo-Addo has failed the fight againat illegal mining (Galamsy) in the country hence cannot be trusted to fight LGBTQI movement.
“How do u expect us to trust the president, the man who said he has put his presidency in the line if he fails to fight Galamsey and what is the result now and his action?” He asked.
The young student leader and a student teacher of the Atebubu College of Education vehemently said, since President Akufo-Addo failed to fight Galamsy, he can’t believe him to fight LGBTQI movement in Ghana.
He added that, “how could the President gave assurance of not legalising same sex MARRIAGE? Per his words the activities of the LGBTQI can be allowed but the marriage will not be allowed under him”
Sadat Abdul-Rahman noted that, before he can believe the president on LGBTQI, he needs to criminalize it to bring its practice to and end.
According to him, “President Akufo-Addo knew for sure that, there is no church that will agree for such practices in their premises that is why he is saying so and if the president is serious on what he said then he should criminalise the actions in the country and that will bring it to an end.”
“I have no trust that he can fight LGBTQI+ Right in Ghana” He said.
He made this comment after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says same sex marriage will not be legalized under his presidency.
He said this at Asante Mampong on Saturday, 27th February 2021, at the installation of the 2nd Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Ghana, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo boldly said, he will not accept same sex marriage in Ghana.
“I have said this before and let me conclusively stress it again. It will not be under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that same sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana. It will never happen in my time expressively.” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reiterated.
