DASTECH DA Basic School to celebrate Maiden Graduation and Carols Day Ceremony

Staff, School Management Committee (SMC), Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of the DASTECH D/A Basic School in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, Dabala has announced Maiden Graduation and Carols Day Celebration for the school.

According to the Head Teacher of the School, Mr. Richard Ahiati, the ceremony is scheduled on the theme “E-learning; An Effective Tool for Quality Teaching and Learning”

He explained that, the purpose of the celebration is to raise fund to purchase computers for the school to enhance quality teaching and learning for academic excellence.

Speaking to Coverghana news team, Mr. Ahiati Richard added that, there shall be awards for learners/students and facilitators (teachers) as a means of motivating them towards hard academic works.

Outlining the activities of the ceremony, Mr. Ahiati said, there will be graduation for Kindergarten two (2) pupils, Primary six (6) pupils and 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates of the school.

He noted that, there shall be activities such as fashion show, drama, presentation of awards to teachers and students, beauty peagent, poetry recital, choreography among others.

The programme, according to him shall have special personalities such as the District Chief Executive for South Tongu Hon. Seth Agbi (Special Guest of Honour),  the Member of Parliament Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome (Special Guest), the Chief of Dabala – Togbe Kwakuvi Akah Aglorborni III, Togbe Sogah Atsugah II – Dufia/Chief of Sogakope, Ms. Evelyn Araba Zentey (Guest Speaker) – District Director of Education, South Tongu, Mr. Hudson Kwadzo Ablordeppey, Suv. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Leadership of the National Union of Tongu Students and Associates (NUTSA), Leadership of Teacher Unions (NAGRAT, GNAT and CCT-GH), leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) for South Tongu and Volta Region, old students of the school, parents, teachers, Churches among others.

According to the Head Teacher of the School, Mr. Richard Ahiati, the ceremony is scheduled to take place in the school premises on Wednesday, 8th December, 2021 at exactly 9:00am.

The SMC chairman, Pastor Mawuli Amegayibor, PTA chairperson – Hon Evelyn Goni, the Headteacher- Mr. Ahiati Richard, teachers and students of dastech D/A Basic School are inviting everyone to their Maiden Edition of Graduation and Carols Day Celebration at Dabala.

The school was started as a shift class on the then Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Middle School premises when the pupils in form one was divided officially into two classes on the 31st October, 1962. The School at that time was under the headship of one Mr. E.M Amexo.

The shift Local Authority Middle School classes of form one to form four were taken over by the Tongu Local Council in October 1965.

On the 5th October, 1965, in the morning, the school was officially removed from the Evangelical Presbyterian Middle School premises to the three roomed school block which was formerly occupied by the students of Dabala Teacher Training College.

The first substantive Head Teacher appointed for the Local Authority Middle School was the late E.S Sulley.

The School continues as a middle school until the new educational reform programmes which gives birth to the Dabala Local Authority (D/A) Junior Secondary School on the 29th September, 1987.

The establishment of the Dabala Senior Secondary Technical School in 1990 at the site of the former Dabala Teacher Training College which the Dabala Local Authority Junior Secondary School was occupying, saw the movement of the later back to the old Evangelical Presbyterian Middle School block which were virtually vacant.


The Dabala Local Authority Middle School land was released free by the Chief of Dabala Togbui Lolo Kwakuvi Akah II and his Stool Fathers in 1963 to the Tongu Local Council for the establishment of the Dabala Teacher Training College.
