The people of Abuakwa, Maakro, Atwima Nkorang, Sepaase, Besease communities in the Atwima Nwabiagy South municipal of the Ashanti Region, have expressed worries over lack of social amenities in the area, thus calling on authorities to come to their aid, so as to alleviate the suffering of the people.
“Despite persistent appeals to opinion leaders and the Assembly on the urgent need to provide basic amenities in our community, nothing has been done to alleviate our plight in the area. We lack Roads, Bridges, portable water and people defecate about any how, causing another problem for the community”, The residents lamented.
According to them, they have warned of a “skirt and blouse” vote in the 2020 elections
Residents urged, the government to deem it necessary to focus on the rapid infrastructural development in the communities. They however lamented that, the present leadership of the council had not carried out any developmental projects in the area.
In an interview with Asona Dehyie Kwateng, Opinion leader, who is an Independent parliamentary candidate for Nwabiagya south, Eld Dr. Anthony Willie Nanatwi said, the residents of the communities, have been neglected of the provision of Roads, jobs, potable water and a toilet facility. A situation the assembly is supposed to have done everything possible to address without delay”.
Dr. Anthony Willie accused leadership of the Assembly and the Municipal Chief executive (MCE) Amoa Awuku and Member of Parliament (MP) Hon Emmanuel Agyei for failing to provide the communities with essential amenities, since they came to power.
He challenged their Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Agyei to show them just a single project, and one of the four factories (1D1F) he claims to be in the area.
“We are seriously in search for jobs across Ghana and challenged the M.P to show us where any of those factories are so that we can send job applications.” They said.
