DeShaun Xavier Foster known as DeShaun Foster is an American football coach and former player who is the head football coach at UCLA. He is the newly appointed UCLA head coach. Way back as a player, he spent seven seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Carolina Panthers. He played college football for UCLA, earning second-team All-American honors in 2001. He was selected by Carolina in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played five seasons for the Panthers and one for the San Francisco 49ers. He was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

In 2012, Foster joined Jim L. Mora’s staff at UCLA as a volunteer assistant, before becoming a graduate assistant the following year. In 2015, he became the program’s director of player development and high school relations. In 2016, he left UCLA and joined Texas Tech as its running backs coach under Kliff Kingsbury. On January 21, 2017, he returned to UCLA, serving in the same role on Jim Mora’s and later Chip Kelly’s staff.
