The Ghana Education Service might not be recruiting teachers in the 2023 fiscal year due to the ban on recruitment into the Public Sector.
According to the analysis of the 2023 budget as presented by the Minister for finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta shows that the Government has not made any substantial allocation to recruit teachers for the various public schools in the country.

The Information available indicates that Ministry in charge of Education in the country requested for an amount for the recruitment into the Ghana Education Service in the 2023 Budget.
The request by the Ministry of Education which was dropped by the Ministry of Finance in line with Government’s decision to freeze employment into the civil and Public Service as presented by the Minister for finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta in the 2023 budget.

This ban on employment into the public sector which includes education shall adversely affect teaching and learning as teachers go on retirement although the year and also as a result of increase in the country’s population.
