The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has explained the cause of power outage across the country.
In statement issued by a System Operator of GRIDCo at the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) said, If you happen to be experiencing a power outage in your part of the country, it has to do with gas supply challenges which has resulted in a supply shortfall of about 1,000MW and blackouts in parts of the country, including Accra, Tema and Kumasi.
According to the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) at approximately 18:55PM on Saturday February 27, 2021, gas supply challenges, emanating from the Offshore fields, led to loss of power supply totaling about 1,00OMW.
The management of GRIDCo said, to prevent a total system shutdown, power curtailment was carried out, which affected major parts of the country including Accra, Tema and Kumasi.
Gas supply has resumed upstream and power to the affected areas will be restored shortly.
