PHOTOS: Six Players who missed out Black Stars squad due to injuries

The Ghana Football Association has announced that, a total of six players have missed out of Black Stars squad due to injuries.

Earlier, the Interim Head Coach of the Ghana Black Stars, Coach Otto Addo has announced the twenty-seven (27) squad for the double legged World Cup Quilifers play-off against the Supper Eagles of Nigeria.

According to the GFA, they were expecting some six (6) top players to show up for the crucial game between Ghana and Nigeria but, fialed to join the team due to injuries.

The players include;

1. Majeed Ashimeru

2.  Antoine Semenyo

3. Baba Abdul Rahman

4. Samuel Owusu

5. Richmond Boakye Yiadom

6. Kamaldeen Sulemana


GFA explained that, the six players were all handed call ups to the senior national team and were expected to report to camp on March 20, 2022 but failed to join the rest of the squad due to injuries at the respective club sides.

The statement said, the Team Doctors of the respective clubs of the players wrote and officially inform the GFA of their injury situations and confirmed their unavailability for the double-header against Nigeria.

The GFA assured that, they will continue to communicate with team doctors of the respective clubs and monitor the recovery of the players.

It’s the hope of the Association that injured players will recover quickly and join the senior national team for future assignments.

The Ghana Football Association has sent its best wishes to six players who could not join the Black Stars squad for the play-offs against Nigeria due to injuries.

“As they continue their recovery process, the GFA remains firm in the belief that the players will join all Ghanaians to support the team in our quest to make a fourth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.”
