The Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has toured schools whose roofs have been ripped off by a heavy rainstorm within his Constituency to access the situation.
Speaking in a brief interview with Coverghana.com.gh, Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome noted that, his outfit will immediately lobby for an urgent support from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and GetFund to immediately address the problem.
According to him, he is putting in measures to ensure that, the problem is address as soon as possible for teaching and learning in the affected schools to resume.
“We are calling on the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to quickly visit the affected communities to see how best they can also support in order to alleviate some of these challenges that have hit the people of South Tongu. The effects of the Disaster is compounding the already devastating situation we have found ourselves thus; the outbreak of Covid-19.” He said.
The MP has also appealed to the general public to support the affected schools. “Who ever is touched can also come in to support so that, the ripped off roofs can be fixed.” He appealed.
“The appeal goes on, but I will do my best in the shortest possible time to get GetFund, and NADMO informed with the available records so that, they can also quickly move in to support. They have done it before and I am hopeful that, immediately they receive the information, they shall come to support.” Hon. Woyome assured.
The affected schools in the District include; Dabala Roman Catholic (R/C) Comboni Basic School, Dabala Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Basic “B” Kindergarten School, Dzebetato D/A Basic School, Lakpo D/A Kindergarten block and Anyidzekpo D/A Basic School.
Hon. Woyome used the opportunity to thank the District Director of Education and her hardworking staff of GES who informed him immediately the incident occurred.
He was accompanied by the District Director of Education Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms.), Mr. Victor Kofi Kattah – the Dabala Circuit Supervisor, some staff of GES, South Tongu Constituency Executives among others to the scenes.
