The Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC), Mr. Kwesi Gyan-Appenteng has urged members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and other media practitioners to understand the value of togetherness, emphasizing that togetherness makes a team very strong and capable to the extent that when you fight one, you fight all.

He also called on the members of the media fraternity to unite and resist all powers and forces in order to safeguard against their defeat.

Mr. Gyan-Appenteng, who lead his team from Accra to Ho, through an engagement with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) – Volta Chapter on October 22nd, 2020 monitored by one of our reporters Tabitha Kugbonu stated that, Journalists and Media Practitioners must keep in mind that, whichever area they report from, they are working in the interest of the people, and that, according to him, is the paramount responsibility of journalism, because they, Journalists do not work for themselves neither do they work for their employers rather, but they work for the people of this country, who listen to what they say, who read what they write and who watch what they produce.

He again added that, Journalists must be mindful of all these things, and then consider that they are in a privileged position. He said his position as the Chairman of the NMC is not a divine gift or it is not because he is more intelligent than any other person but by the will of God and by the trust of the people, he has been given a responsibility.

According to him, he is dealing with humans and treat them with contempt, there is no way that he will ever succeed. But if he humbles himself and gives each one of the people the respect that they deserve, then he will be sustained and successful in whatever he does.
