Visit for Sale: Volta MMDCEs directed to contribute money to cater for Regional Minister’s tour

A wireless message intercepted by, is asking for MMDCEs across 18 District and Municipal Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Volta Region to contribute some amounts of money towards a tour of the region by the Honourable Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Yaw Archibald Letsa.

The letter, signed by Prosper Afenyo, the Acting Regional Coordinating Director, for the Regional Minister, has gotten citizens and residents of the region wondering if Assemblies must contribute towards such government expenditure.

The said letter referenced another letter dated 29th December, 2021 sent out to MMDCEs across the region, is asking for the contribution of GH¢2,500.00 and GH¢2,000.000 each by District Assemblies and Municipal Assemblies respectively.

There are three activities mentioned in the wireless message namely, courtesy call on District and Municipal Chief Executives; meeting with local government staff and lastly visit to selected projects.

Contributions were supposed to be made to the Office of the Regional Coordinating Council “by close of work on Thursday, 6th January, 2022”. The contribution, according to the letter, was to “cater for part of the cost of the tour”.

One thing the letter did not cover is the exact date and schedule for the tour by the Regional Minister.
