Ghana’s 2021 Statutory Public Holidays and Commemorative Days

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Interior has released the full list of statutory public holidays and commemorative days in the Republic of Ghana for the year 2021.

The list includes thirteen (13) statutory public holidays and two (2) commemorative days making a total of fifteen (15).

Government declares 7th January, 2021 as a Statutory Public Holiday


The Statutory Public Holidays include;

1. New Year’s Day – 1st January, 2021

2. Constitution Day – 7th January, 2021

3. Independence Day – 6th March, 2021

4. Good Friday 2nd April, 2021

5. Easter Monday 5th April, 2021

6. May Day (Worker’s Day) – 1st May, 2021

7. Eid-Ul-Fitr – yet to be determined

8. Eid-Ul-Adha – yet to be determined

9. Founder’s Day – 4th August, 2021

NDC elects top Parliamentary Leadership for the 8th Parliament

10. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day – 21st September, 2021

11. Farmer’s Day – 3rd December, 2021

12. Christmas Day – 25th December, 2021

13. Boxing Day – 26th December, 2021.

NPP elects Parliamentary Leadership for the 8th Parliament

List of the Commemorative days in 2021 which will not be observed as Public Holidays includes;


1. African Union Day – 25th May, 2021

2. Republic Day – 1st July, 2021

According to the Ministry of Interior, there are no fixed dates for the Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-ULAdha because they are movable feasts. The dates for their observation are provided by the Office of the Chief Imam in the course of the year.
