The South Tongu District Director of Education, Madam Evelyn Araba Zentey has extended her singular support towards the construction of Baptist/Avegorme D/A Basic School in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms.), who appealed to key stakeholders within the District and beyond to support the construction of a 6-unit classroom block has personally donated a trip of sand, as a sign of proactive leadership to motivate other individuals to support the school.
The trip of sand was delivered to the Management of the school by the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Lolito/Nyinuto circuit Mr. Dzuke Sampson on behalf of the District Director to support the school project.
The Director’s donation came after pictures of the dilapidated structure of the school were “flooded” on different social media platforms by some citizens of the community.
Information available to Coverghana.com.gh suggest that, the South Tongu Education Directorate under the able headship of Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms). made numerous proposals towards the construction of a new classroom block for the community.
Following the proposals, the South Tongu Member of Parliament Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome and other stakeholders have lobbied Pencils of Promise (PoP) and the Marie Vivian Dogbe Foundation that teamed up to provide the Avegorme Community a 3-unit classroom block, an office, a storeroom and a 6-unit toilet facility.
The partnership between Pencils of Promise (PoP) and the Marie Vivian Dogbe Foundation in Avegorme follows an intervention by Stan Dogbe and Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome when proposals and reports of the deplorable state of the Avegorme D/A Basic School came to the fore.
Meanwhile, the 1994 year batch of Sogakope Senior High School (SOGASCO) led by Mr. Duncan Titiati has also cut sod for the construction of a 6-unit classroom block for the Agave-Avegorme D/A Basic School.
With the supports so far, Coverghana.com.gh can report that, the community, in the coming days will have a well-resourced classroom block to support teaching and learning.
Residents of the community, teachers, and students have expressed their profound gratitude to the District Director of Education Avelyn Araba Zentey for her support.
