The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has introduced 62 new academic programmes in fulfilment of its vision to expand the institution and to meet various professional interests and areas of specialisation with the demands of the contemporary global environment in focus.

COMPOSITION OF THE NEW PROGRAMME

The new programmes announced by management of the University consist of;

1. two (2) Doctor of Philosophy programmes

2. twenty-two (22) Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programmes

3.  two (2) Master of Business Administration programmes.

4. three (3) Master of Science programmes.

5. five (5) Master of Arts (MA) programmes

6. five (5) Master of Education programmes.

7. twenty (20) undergraduate programmes.

8. two (2) diploma programmes and

9. one (1) certificate programme.

The new programmes were disclosed in a speech delivered by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winniba (UEW), Professor Andy Ofori-Birikorang, on Monday, 13th December, 2021, at the first session of the 26th Congregation of the UEW held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

Addressing the congregation, Professor Andy Ofori-Birikorang said, the newer programmes that will be rolled out in the coming year include a Doctor of Philosophy programme to be run by the Department of Political Science Education under the Faculty of Social Sciences Education and an MA/MPhil programmes in African Studies

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang divulged that inclusive education was core amongst the values of UEW as an institution adding, Management had established a Braille Library to support students with special needs.

He again indicated that Management of the University had procured new sets of modern furniture for all the new lecture theatres to create the necessary conducive environment for teaching and learning. “The fixing of furniture and allocation of offices at the Student Centre has been done. In the coming days, the centre will come up live with full-scale student-centred activities.”

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang urged graduands to never, ever stop learning but should leave the University and enter into the world of work with the mindset that they have a lot more to learn. “Therefore, our approach to work should be a mindset to inquire; observe; recognise that we may be incorrect every now and then; and that we are always work in progress to master our work and craft.”

A total of 4,472 students from Faculties in erstwhile UEW Kumasi and Mampong Campuses now Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills and Entrepreneurial Development were presented with Diplomas, Bachelor Degrees and various Postgraduate Degrees on Monday, 13th December, 2021.

Requirements for Renewal of National Teaching Council License

The week-long ceremony continues from Wednesday, 15th to Saturday, 18th December, 2021, for Faculties of Social Sciences Education, Science Education, Ghanaian Languages Education, Foreign Languages Education, Educational Studies, Schools of Business, Creative Arts and Graduate Studies at the same venue.
