The New Patriotic Party government has announced to complete some abandoned major roads in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
In the 2021 Budget and Economic Policy presented to Parliament by the Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on the authority of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, 12th March, 2021 has outlined some key roads to be completed across the country in the second term of President Akufo-Addo.
The abandoned roads outlined under Projects to be completed in North Tongu include;
1. Construction of a 39.2km road from Dorfor Adidome to Asikuma Junction.
2. Construction of a 23.9km road from Asutuare to Aveyime.
Government has also promised to construct 2 no. interchanges at Dorfor Adidome and Asikuma Junction to aid movement of vehicles and people within the area.
In addition, the budget has also captured the construction of Bridge over the Volta River at Volivo to Dorfor Adidome, a project which has been in the pipeline for many years.
Also, Govermment has started irrigation project at Torgorme in the North Tongu District, a project called Kpong Left Bank Irrigation Project (KLBIP)
The District Chief Executive for North Tongu District Assembly Hon. Richard Collins Arku who championed this initiative in a statement Intercepted by Coverghana.com.gh said, he is grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for considering the key road projects that will boost economic activities in the North Tongu District.
